GSCCU-001 & GSCU-002 / 003

This new commentators system has a base station that is mains powered and battery backed up with internal ISDN codecs. The inbuilt battery back provides in excess of 2 hours usage. There are 3 small commentators boxes and 1 producers box, these each connect to the base station via a cat5 cable which provides all the power, audio and data circuits between the base station (CCU) and the commentators boxes (CU).

The base station is set out as 7 channels plus an operators channel and master/ ISDN module. The ISDN facilities included are 2 x G722/G711 Codecs & TA.

There are 7 channels plus an operators position.
The 7 channels
are: 3 x remote commentators boxes, 2 x radio mic commentators, 1 x local Coord circuit and 1 x producers box. The first six of these channels can all be sent to the program output each having a large illuminated channel on/off switch.
The operator can PF monitor any of the 7 channels and can also talk directly to any of the 7 channels.  The operator can select which of 8 audio sources are sent to the listen circuits of the 7 channels (in left, right or both ears). The operator can also select which outputs each channels input is fed to.

CHANNELS

In the picture to the left the controls (working from the bottom of the picture to the top) are:

Yellow Button: Monitoring Pre Fade
Square Red Button: Switches channel on to outputs
Round Red Button: Allows operator to speak to that channel
White Round Buttons: Selects sources to be fed to that channel. Each source can be set to be in the left ear, right ear, both ears or off.
Toggle Switches: These 3 switches route the output of the channel to the 3 outputs.
Black/Yellow Knob:  This is a + and - 10 dB gain control.

OPERATORS POSITION

In the picture to the left the controls (working from the bottom left of the picture to the top) are:

Black & Green plus Black & Red Knobs: Volume controls for the operators headphones.
Toggle Switch: Headphone feed follows PPM selection
White Round Buttons:  selects sources to be fed to headphone feed. Each source can be set to be in the left ear, right ear, both ears or off.
Black/Yellow Knob:  This is a + and - 10 dB gain control.

Blue Button: Recalls the saved memory position
Green Button: Saves the current audio source set up (as being sent to the channels) to memory

Yellow Buttons: Selects sources to the PPM

Small Black Pot Shafts: Sets audio level

OUTPUT MODULE

In the picture to the left the controls (working from the bottom of the picture to the top) are:

Red Buttons: Allows the operator to talk to the outputs.
Toggle Switch: This is a safety switch that has to be operated at the same time as the Red talk to program button to prevent accidental insertion of the operators mic on air.
Two Toggle Switches: These record and playback 2 off line identification circuits, that can be sent to the PGM and PCC outputs.

Toggle Switch AND Keypad: These control the 2 internal G722/G711 Codecs.

Two Toggle Switches (top left of picture): These alter the output level on the rear panel XLRs.

There are 3 main outputs, plus 1 local output (TCC) of the operators mic. Any of the 7 channels can be switched to any of the 3 main outputs.
1) PGM Out which is sent via one Codec to the ISDN line, and also is replicated on 3 individual balanced XLRs (2 of which have 3 position level swicth).
2) PCC Out which is sent via the second Codec to the ISDN line, and also is replicated on 2 individual balanced XLRs.
3) AUX Out this appears on 2 individual balanced XLRs.

GSCU-002 Commentators Boxes

Up to 3 of these can be used with 1 off GSCCU-001.
Each Commentators box connects to the control unit by a cat5 cable.

The commentators box offers overall level control of the headphone circuits (both left an right separately). The Commentator has off air talkback to the producer and operator and has the option to mute the output of his/her microphone.

GSCU-003 Producers Box

1 producers box can be connected to the control unit by a single cat5 cable.

There are 2 microphone inputs on the GSCU-003, one for the producer (XLR on the front panel) and 1 for a director (XLR on the rear panel).
There are 2 headphone sockets which share the same headphone amplifier, for which level controls are located on the front panel.

The producer (and director) can talk to the 3 commentators boxes, the operator, the 2 radio commentators channels and the 3 outputs (depending on the selection made by the operator)
