GlenController v2_12 Parad 1616M 8MAI BAN

The GlenController Windows10/11 application is provided free of charge to add network remote control/ setup facilities to our range of Dante®/ AES67 network audio products.

The application has been written entirely in house by our own software engineers and can be downloaded for installation on your Windows PC direct from our website (see the 'Latest Version' tab for the exact download location).

GlenController automatically finds all compatible devices that it can control on your network and shows them in a list on the left hand side of the screen. Just select the device(s) that you would like to control and a detailed device screen will be provided. It is possible to password protect devices to prevent unauthorised access and adjusting of a device's parameters.

All compatible devices can connect to multiple GlenControllers simultaneously, meaning that several operators in your workflow can access a device and see its levels, gains etc at the same time.

GlenController has built in redundancy. It connects to the devices that it is controlling by both the primary and secondary network interfaces (if available) and, like Dante network audio, it provides seamless backup if one of the two networks should fail.

Many of the device types support remote firmware upgrade from GlenController without the need to use USB. This is very handy if there are many devices on the network, as all of them can be updated simultaneously.

None of the devices that GlenController connects to requires GlenController to be running for them to operate. This means that if the PC that is running GlenController has an issue mid-broadcast then your broadcast audio will not be affected.

GlenController is a secure "sandboxed" UWP-type app, meaning it has restricted access to the host computer. It is digitally signed with a publicly trusted certificate obtained from Sectigo (former Comodo) authority.

The below list provides information on our devices that can currently be controlled by GlenController.

Please note that in some cases the devices' own firmware may need upgrading before the latest version of GlenController will work with it (see latest firmware tabs in the products web page for details).

  • General

The Windows remote control App needs to be installed on a suitable control PC. It is touch-enabled, meaning that it also works on tablets and 2-in-1 laptops. Please make sure your PC has at least the minimum required version of Windows installed prior to installing the app.

  • App Requirements

The Windows PC must be running version 2004 or later of Windows 10 64-bits or Windows 11, on an Intel or AMD processor. Please contact us if you need a version for ARM-based devices (like some modern Windows tablets).

An Ethernet connection is recommended to control the devices. Wi-Fi also works but it may be less reliable and is not official, so don't tell anybody!

  • Installation

Stage 1 (Windows 10 only, not required for Windows 11) – Check / Enable ‘Sideloading Apps’

Installation requires a Windows 10 feature called Sideloading Apps (as do many other Apps).  This feature is probably already enabled on your machine but we suggest that you check / enable it prior to trying to load the App.

1) Open Settings and select Update & Security

2) Select For developers and make sure that Sideload apps is selected

3) If you are turning on Sideload apps for the first time Windows will pop up a warnings screen.  Make sure that you are happy to proceed and click Yes

Stage 2 – Install The App

In the Download tab of this web page, click on "Install Glensound Controller".

Depending on your browser settings this can have different effects:

a) If the browser offers an Open option (like in Edge), just select Open and this will start the installation process.

b) If the browser directly downloads the file (like in Chrome) go to your Downloads and open the file from there (double-click).

c) If the browser displays the contents of the file (rather scary XML) then just go back to the link and this time right-click it to select Save As from the pop-up menu. Save the file onto any convenient location. This is a tiny .appinstaller file that can be open by double-clicking it. This should start the installation. When done, the downloaded .appinstaller file can be deleted.

  • Updating A Previously Installed App

If you have an earlier version of Glensound Controller installed on your PC, then you should not need to perform a complete new installation to update it, except if upgrading from a version older than v2.15.2. Just install the new version from our website and it will be updated.

  • Uninstalling Glensound Controller

Find the app in the ‘All apps’ list then right-click and select ‘Uninstall’. Please note that all saved settings and presets will be removed as well. If this is a concern then export the settings before uninstalling the app.

  • Downgrading

If you have to go back to an earlier version of Glensound Controller, then please contact us so that we can provide the right installer. You need to first uninstall the app and then install the older version.

The document below details the protocols of GlenController for use with the DARK8MAI, DARK8MAIR, DARK1616M and the DIVINE. The data structures are defined in C++ header files and can be directly included in a C++ project, or ported to any other language.
